Benjamin Franklin Avery, was the founder in Louisville in 1847 of one of the largest plow factories in the world. He was born in Aurora New York in 1801, the son of Daniel Avery and Abigail Smith Avery. His plow factory was called B.F. Avery and sons and was the biggest factory in Louisville located at 15th and Main Street.

His factory is registered as a historical site in Louisville. After his death in 1885 at age 84, the factory passed on to his sons George Capwell Avery and Samuel Look Avery and a nephew. The company is still in operation today in Louisville they make plows and tractors.

He married Susan Howes Look on Apr 27,1844 at Utica,NY.
