Foremer Resident Dies in Kansas
Funeral services for James T. Botts, 88, a former Carter county resident, were held last Monday in Havana, Kansas, where he had lived since 1878.
He was the son of James R. and Mary Everman Botts. He was born in this county, July 14, 1848 and died in Havana, Kansas August 29, 1936.
Mr. Botts taught several schools here and practiced law for a number of years, in 1878 he moved to Kansas where he had charge of an Indian commissary and school for several years.
He married Miss Minerva Catron of Bruin, Elliott County (KY) August 12, 1883. He leaves besides his wife, three children, Ola, Winifred and James A. and one granddaughter; one brother, R. W. Botts of this city also survives and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Botts was one of the charter members of the local Christian church. He remained an active church worker throughout his life in and around Havana, his home.
Burial was made in the Havana Cemetery.
