Chico Enterprise-Record, Friday, February 19, 1954: "Russell Barker Dies at Home On Dayton Road". Russell H.F. Barker, 73, died at his home on Dayton Road yesterday afternoon.
He was a native of Michigan and lived there until he was 14 years old. Later he came to Oakland where he was engaged in a co-operative movement. There he was joined by his sister, Margaret Speas, from Wyoming. Together they made their home for a short time in Red Bluff. Moving here 10 years ago he had been experimenting in the production of organic foods.
Besides his sister he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. O.R. Russell, of Los Angeles, a nephew and two nieces. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Christian Service Society of which he had been a member since 1945."
Chico Enterprise-Record, Wednesday, February 24, 1954: "Russell Barker Rites Held Here Monday". Funeral services for Russell Barker were held in the Assembly of God Church Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. B.J. Franklin officiating. Mrs. Elvin C. Clark, soloist, sang `Death is Only a Dream' and `Sometime We'll Understand.' She was accompanied on the organ by Rev. Richard Orchard. Interment was in the Chico Christian Service Society Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bert Gribble, Vernon Sutherland, H. Lamberth, M. McMillan, I.E. Bailey and D.T. Hoops."
