Emma Dee Arthur
Age 80, went home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2006 at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet,
IL. She was born in Sicly Island, LA on January 15, 1926 to the late Louis and Maggie Taylor. A resident of Joliet for the past forty seven years, she was employed by the Sunny Hill Nursing Home, retiring from there after many dedicated years of service.
On August 5, 1959 she became a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Lockport, IL. After the death of her husband in 1987, she changed her membership to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Joliet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Reuben Arthur Sr., one daughter, Mildred Thompson, granddaughters, Yolanda Taylor and Tyraneisha Arthur, brothers, Louis Taylor and C.D. Mathis and one sister, Ruby James Fields.
She is survived by five daughters; Maggie (Calvin) Taylor of Woodson, AR, Mary (Robert) Ammons of Atlanta, GA, Pamela (John) Clark, Pearline Arthur and Marceline Arthur all of Joliet, IL; three sons, Jeffery (Angie) Arthur of Chicago, IL, Jerry (Debbie) Arthur and Reuben L. Arthur Jr. of Joliet, IL; she also leaves stepmother, Clara (Toliver) Taylor of Sicly Island, LA; brothers, Earl Taylor of Hensley, AR, Huey (Francis) Taylor of Sicly Island, LA, Joe Richards (Ruth) James of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Marie (Jack) Gary of Las Vegas, NV, Clara (nee Taylor) Valentine, Gerta J. Stain and Jeanette Newsome all of Sicly Island; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones, also her beloved Henrietta, Donald Stevens, Charles Laine and Josephine Ellis.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM with Service following at 12:00 Noon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 402 Singleton Place, Joliet, IL, Dr. Isaac Singleton Sr., Officiating. Interment following the Service at Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
