Esq. W. Lafayette Belk of Buford township died Sunday morning. He was 79 years old.
Survived by his wife, son Robert Belk of Monroe and several daughters.
Was a soldier of both the Mexican War and the Civil Wars. He volunteered when 19 years old as a soldier in the war with Mexico, and in his old age drew a pension from the U.S. for this service.
Member of Prospect Methodist church.
Was thrice married. His daughters were Mesdames J.A. Plyler, R.G. McBrice, J.S. Broom, S.D. Helms, C.D. Helms, J.I. Helms and W.W. Richardson.
