Joseph Mason, 63, of Siloam Springs died November 5, at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville. He was born July 29, 1922 in Siloam Springs. He was the son of Joseph and Ruth Mason and had been a lifetime resident of Siloam Springs.
Joe was a Disabled Veteran of World War II, lifetime member of the D.A.V. Chapter 50, lifetime member of Military Order of the Purple Heart, 40 year pin recipient of the V.F.W. and member of the American Legion. He had over 1,400 volunteer hours at the Veterans Hospital where he was recently appointed Deputy Representative of the VAMC. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Siloam Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Mason of the home; one son, Dennis Mason of Springdale; one daughter, Patricia Cartwright of Atlanta, GA; on brother, Roy Mason of Siloam Springs; four sisters: Miss Faye Mason of Tahlequah, OK, Mrs. Tom Hardin of Kansas, OK, Mrs. John Hay of Siloam Springs, and Mrs. Elizabeth Berry of Olathe, KS; and two grandchildren.
Services were held November 8, 1985, at Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
A memorial has been established at the Fayetteville Veterans Hospital in Joe's honor. All contributions will be used for the patients personal needs performed by the volunteer services at the hospital. Donations should be sent directly to the Veterans Hospital, Fayetteville, AR 72701.
