Clifford Bethel, 73, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Friday September 28, 2007 at his home.
THe son of Simpson and May Bethel he was born December 17, 1933 in Pleasanton, Iowa. On November 25, 1961 in Kirksville he was married to Diana May Stoukas.
Clifford was raised in Pleasonton, Iowa and attended the Lamoni High School. He entered the United States Navy on April 14, 1951 and served on an aircraft carrier in the Phillipine's until his discharge on October 18, 1954. He attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. e moved to Kirksville and worked and later managed the Manhattan Restaurant until he retired. He recently had been volunteering at the Food Pantry.
He was attending the First Liberty Full Gospel Church and the Church of Christ. He enjoyed spending time with people.
Clifford is survived by two daughters, Bonita (Bonnie) Bethel of St. Charles, MO and Brenda Bethel of Boonville, MO; one brother Dale Bethel and wife Myoko of Hawaii and one sister, Pearl Shipp and husband Dane of Chariton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Diana on February 15, 2001 and one brother Bill Bethel.
Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday October 1, 2007 at Highland Park Cemetery with Pastor Fred Baker officiating with military rites.
