He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of 43 years, Lecie Toms Barnett; four sons, Homer (Tony) Barnett II of Roseland, Estrello and Lucas Barnett of Lynchburg, and Brion Barnett of Amherst; one daughter, Tamara Barnett of Madison Heights; two devoted daughter-in-laws, Tammy T. and Brenda L. Barnett; nine grandchildren, Simone, Kelsey, Homer (Lil' Tony) Barnett III, Alcindor, Myra, Jeremiah, Zachary, Tamela and Ashleigh; three great grandchildren, Diamond, Xavier and Tre; one half brother, Andrew Barnett of Roseland; seven sisters-in-law, Sarah Thompson, Emma Jackson, Belle Thomas, Nancy Carter, Ruth, Regina and Bertha Toms; five brothers-in-law, Matthew, Reginald, and Ira Toms, Isaiah Thompson, and Leonard Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Santresa C. Barnett; one sister, Maxine, and six brothers, Arthur, Edgar, Albert, Talmadge, Elmore and Nathaniel.
Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Oak Hill Baptist Church, Roseland, with the Rev. H. Annette Diggs Officiating and Pastor L. Keith Otey, Eulogist. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors by VFW Post #7701 of Colleen.
