Lorene Knighton was born to John and Tamer Olden on May 9, 1912 in Holdenville Oklahoma. She was reared and attended school in the Shiloh community west of Holdenville, Oklahoma. She received Christ as a youth and was baptized into Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a long time member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She also served in several congregations in Seminole county along with her husband, the late Rev. D.A. Knighton. At the time of her death she was a member of Paradise Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Lorene Knighton departed this life after a brief illness on February 29, 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and all of her siblings, five brothers, Aaron Olden, Joseph Olden, James Olden, Thurman Olden and Johnny Olden; five sisters, Annie Weatherspoon, Eather Sherman, Mildred Mason, Irene Prior and Dinah Lottie. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Margie Lee, a son Billy Ray and a set of twins.
Left to cherish her memory are three sons, David Knighton (Gretta), John Knighton, and Rickey Knighton (Joani) and four daughters, Thelma Fleming (Donald), Joyce Griffin (Morris), Marva Eddington (Charles), and Barbara Brown (Leroy).
Mrs. Lorene Knighton also left 29 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 24 great great grandchildren to cherish her memory. She was affectionately known as "Granny" by all her grandchildren and all of them that knew her knew they were loved.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
