Susie Brown's funeral Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Susie Brown, age 91, Clinton resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Church of God in Clinton with Brother Roy Dobbs officiating.
Susie Lettie Jane Hoffman Brown died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at the Methodist Health Care Center. She was born on March 1, 1910 six miles southeast of Foss, the sixth of seven children born to William H. and Annie Agnes Hoffman.
Her parents came to Day County as pioneers in 1898, and she grew up in the Foss area, attending school at the Black and Square Top Schools.
She was married to Carl Marion Brown on Oct. 23, 1929 in Sayre and moved to Clinton in 1942.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the First Church of God where she served as a Sunday school teacher, youth worker, choir member and vacation Bible School worker.
She was a volunteer in Clinton hospitals for 32 years, starting in the old Oklahoma General Hospital.
Loving to sew and cook, she opened her home to babysit for many children in Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 10, 1978; her parents; an infant son, C.M. Brown; a sister, Esta Greer; five brothers, Claude, Carl, Lon, Roy and Delbert Hoffman; and a great grandson, Christopher Lee Sweeten.
Internment will follow at the Parkersburg Cemetery southwest of Clinton under the direction od the Kiwsau-Marler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home at 2500 W. Modelle in Clinton.
Survivors include her son, Marshall Brown, and his wife, Evelyn, of Clinton; daughters, June Holder of Elk City, Lettie Roll and her husband, Ralph, of Arapaho, Gail Muno and her husband, Clarence, of Arapaho, Sharon Delfeld and her husband, Ken, of Albuquerque, N.M.; 14 grandchildren, Carl Ellis Holder, Roger Holder, DeAnna Sweetin, Tereasa Sanders, Rodney Brown, Glen Brown, John Brown, Melanie Black, Mark Roll, Melissa Burch, Rick Muno, Susan Scott, Shari Lake, John Delfeld; 22 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mabel Hoffman of Weatherford; and many nieces and nephews.
