Howard Franklin Baker Sr. was born September 20, 1921, in St. Paul, Arkansas to Jake and Janie (Breashears) Baker. He passed from this life March 22, 2011, in Catoosa, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, six months and two days. Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Army and honorably served his country during World War II. He was married to Madeliene McLaughlin and their union was blessed with one son, Howard Jr. Howard was a self employed blacksmith, specializing as a wheelwright. He enjoyed woodworking and making cabinets and furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Madeliene Baker and six brothers, Hazel, Herschel, Oscar, Otis, Wade and Clint Baker. He leaves behind his son, Howard Baker Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011, at Oak Grove Cemetery with Bro. Ron LaCaze officiating. Burial is under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
