Sam D. Bond Rites In Eakly Church Wednesday at 2:30
Eakly, Feb. 28.--Services for Sam D. Bond, 73, pioneer in the Eakly community, were at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Methodist church of Eakly with Rev. L.W. Skaggs of Arapaho, former pastor of the Eakly church, officiating. Burial was in the Eakly cemetery.
Mr. Bond died Monday after an illness of six months. He had been in failing health for several years.

Samuel Dike Bond was born Aug. 22, 1877, in Missouri. As a young man he came to Oklahoma and located at El Reno prior to the opening of the Caddo county. In 1898 he was married to Alice Mae Little at El Reno.
The young couple came to the "New Country" where Bond engaged in farming. For more than 40 years he was active in Eakly community affairs. He was a member of the Christian church. He served 30 years on the school board and until township government was abolished, he was township trustee for many years. He often served as arbitrator in neighborhood disputes which were settled out of court. He added to his farm operations until he owned several farms. The present family home is two miles southwest of Eakly.
Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Alice Bond, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Dowty and Mrs. Clelia Moore, Eakly; three sons, A.J. of Weatherford and Reo and Harold, Eakly, and three sisters, Mrs. Lola Shoop, Stika, Kan.; Mrs. Cordia Little, Carnegie, and Mrs. Maud Little, Alfalfa. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
