Arthur E. Axtell was born in Grundy County, Mo., December 10th, 1868, and departed this life September 13th, at his home in Liberty township. On April 4th, 1889, he was married to Miss Ida Streepy. To this union two daughters came to bless the home. His wife preceded him in death in 1897.
Those who are left to mourn his departure are his two daughters, Mrs. Carl Nelson and Mrs. Wm. Abernathy, of Centerville, Iowa; three brothers and one sister, of Trenton, Mo., and one brother of Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Mr. Axtell united with the Christian church at Cincinnati, Iowa, in 1894, where he was a member at the time of his death. He was a good neighbor, upright in all his dealings.
The funeral was held at the home of his neighbor, Mr. Gratton, September 14, conducted by T.S. Rhoades and the body was shipped to Centerville, Iowa to be buried beside his wife.
