Champ, Maxene, 84, loving and caring mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, March 31, 2007. Born on January 8, 1923 in Cambridge, Kansas, she was the daughter of Don and Mable (Whiteman) Sutton. She was raised and received her education in Cambridge and was class valedictorian in 1941. She was united in marriage to Wally Brown on December 6, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas. Maxene resided in Winfield while Wally served in World War II. The couple moved to Wichita in the mid 1940's. Wally preceded her in death in 1960. Maxene was united in marriage to Laurn Champ in 1963 and the couple made their home in Goddard. Laurn Champ preceded her in death in 1995. Maxene was a member of the Goddard United Methodist Church where she was very active. Her family includes her sons, Darry Brown & wife Sue, and Wallace Brown, all of Wichita; stepson, Bill Champ & wife Kay of Edmond, Okla; stepdaughter, Laurna Champ of Oklahoma City; brother, Jack Sutton of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Jaime & Brittni Brown; stpegrandchildren, Tom & Troy Champ. Family will greet friends at Miles Funeral Service, Winfield, from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2007. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the Cambridge Presbyterian Church. Interment to follow at the Cambridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Maxene's name be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, and can be made through the funeral home.
