Ross Jones, the son of James and Ellen Gummow Jones was born April 3, 1882 in Manchester, Kansas and passed away in the Highland Nursing home in Abilene, Kansas on May 21 1965 at the age of 83 years, one month and eighteen days.
He grew to manhood in the Manchester community and was united in marriage with Edna Weaver on Nov 29, 1917. She preceded him in death September 28, 1951.
Ross maintained his residence in the Manchester community and continued his work as a sales representative for a(n) Auto Supply firm until ill health forced his retirement. For the past two years, he had made his home at the Highland Nursing Home.
A kind and considerate man, Ross made friends easily and was well adapted to his occupation as a sales representative. He leaves to mourn his passing, two sisters: Mrs Harvey Cherry and Mrs Denzil Morehouse of Manchester, five nieces, Mrs Reva Botz, Abilene, Mrs Milton Reese, Tecumseh Kansas, Mrs Gordon Turnbull, Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs John Drake, Manchester, Mrs Earl Wolf, White City, Kansas. Burial- White Cloud Cemetery, Manchester, Kansas."
"Funeral services were held at the Martin Funeral Home, on May 25, 1965 at 2 p.m. with the Rev Fred Houston officiating. Music was furnished by Clifford Asling who sang, "Good Night and Good Morning" and "Beyond the Sunset" He was accompanied by Mrs Walter Mustard at the organ. Burial was in the white cloud Cemeery, Manchester, with Clyde Taylor, Jess Swiggert, Ralph clark, Everet Shivers, Frank Neaderhiser and Eddy Morehouse serving as pall bearers."
