John “Frank” Bohme was born June 20, 1837 in Hanover, Germany. He married Minnie (Yager) in Germany. They had four children: John Frank Anthony “Tony” Bohme, born April 27, 1874 in Hanover Germany; Clara Emma Bohme born 1876 in Hanover, Germany; Willie Bohme born ~1878 in Germany and died in Hanover, Germany; and Minnie Bohme born ~1880 in Germany and died in Hanover, Germany. In 1883, John “Frank” came to America. One year later, he went back to Germany to get his wife and two young children. They came to America in 1885. They settled in Nebraska for two years. A daughter, Mary Antonia, was born January 12, 1886 in Wymore Nebraska, near Burchard. A son, William “Frank” Bohme was born September 1, 1888 in a sod house on the family farmstead near Gem, Tully, Kansas. Their 7th child, Henry Otto Carl “Charlie” was also born in the sod house on March 23, 1890 in Clinton Township, Rawlins County, Kansas.

John "Frank" Bohme received his final naturalization papers on March 24, 1893. (Became a Naturalized Citizen in Atwood, Rawlins Co., Kansas on 24 Mar. 1893.)

John “Frank” Bohme died December 20, 1898 and is buried at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Herndon, Kansas. Minnie (Yager) Bohme died July 8, 1909. She was Lutheran, and could not be buried next to her husband in the Catholic Cemetery. She was originally buried in the Cumberland Cemetery (Gem, Thomas County, KS) but it kept flooding so her grave was later moved 4 miles north to Lone Star Cemetery in Rawlins County, KS.
