Vern Henry Critser, age 81yrs, of 824 E. Grace Street, Rensselaer, died at 6:12 a.m. Sunday at the Jasper County Hospital. He had been in failing health 20 years.
Born in Milroy Township, April 28, 1901, he was the son of Eli W. Critser and Elizabeth L. (Groom) Critser. He was a lifelong resident of the county.
He was educated at Jasper County Public Schools.
He was married November 28, 1924, in Rensselaer, to Evelyn Florence Lee, who survives.
He was a retired truck driver.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Rensselaer.
Survivors include two daughters: Pricilla (Mrs. John) Neafsy, Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and Miss Nancy Critser, Rensselaer. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother and sister, Mrs. Martha Hurley, Rensselaer, and Joseph M. Critser, also of Rensselaer.
One daughter, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at the Jackson Funeral Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, with Rev. Stanley Tobias officiating. Interment will follow at Crockett Cemetery.
