Violet R. Carlson was born on November 9, 1919 in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Elmer and Sophie Rye. She grew up humbly on a small farm near Lawler. Her Savior, Jesus, claimed her as His own and she was a child of her Heavenly Father her life through and now she basks in the glories of Heaven.
She attended High School in Deep Haven. She met her husband, Bob, before her senior year in High School while swimming near a bridge Lake Minnetonka. They were married in 1939. Their marriage was blessed with two sons. After her boys were grown she trained as a beautician and worked such at her own Beauty Shop in Prior Lake. She was supportive of her husband in his work as a tool and die maker. As a couple with their sons they spent family time together fishing and hiking. She also, with her husband, was a world traveler with trips to Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and traveled the Mid-East with Bob's work. They saw the glories of God in our own nation at places like Niagara Falls and the West Coast, spent time in Phoenix and Palm Desert, AZ, and in her 80's hiked the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
Survived by sons, Bruce (Joni) and Curtis (Sharyn); grandchildren, Julie, Jennifer, Gretchen; 7 great-grandchildren; niece, Marcella. Preceded in death by husband, Gunard R.; grandson, Steven; father and mother, Elmer and Sophie Rye; brothers and sisters, Melvin, Nora, Edwin, and Irene; niece, Lila.
