Neil R. Applen, age 75, of Lanesboro, Minn., formerly of Harmony, died Friday, July 28, 2006, at the Harmony Health Care Center.
Memorial Services are today (Tuesday, Aug. 1) at 10 a. m. at the Greenfield Lutheran Church, Harmony, with the Rev. Jim Radatz officiating. Burial is at the Greenfield Cemetery, Harmony, with Lindstrom Funeral Home in charge of the arrangments.
Neil Roger Applen was born March 10, 1931 in Harmony to Tillman and Anna (Afseth) Applen. He was baptized and confirmed at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. Neil graduated from Harmony High School. He married Eunice Eithun Sept. 13, 1952, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro. The couple lived in Harmony until moving to Lanesboro in 2002. Neil worked with his father in Harmony until taking a sales job with Bear Mfg. Company in the earil 1960's. Following his employment with bear Manufacturing he worked for Lutheran Brotherwood for many years until his retirement. He enjoying spending time with family, bowling, fishing, and golf.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 55 year, Eunice of Lanesboro, Minn.; his children: Gregory and wife Cathy of Redwood Falls, Minn., David and his wife Laurie of Wykoff, Minn., Mark and his wife Julie of Austin, Minn., and Karen of Lanesboro, Minn.; his grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother, James.
