The traffic death toil Aug. 31, 1947, was 65. The 49th fatality last year occurred July 20. Highway patrolmen reported Basham was traveling north and was attempting to pass three other northbound cars. One of the other cars pulled out to pass and the Basham car skidded, left the road and hit the tree.
The accident occurred about four and a half miles north of Porterville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Basham will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Webb Chapel, Lindsay. The Rev. Charles Conrad of the Strathmore Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in Olive cemetery.
Mrs. Basham had lived in the Lindsay-Strathmore district 19 years.
She is survived by her a son, Herbert Basham, San Jose; two daughters, Mrs. Jack Depew, Visalia, and Nida Jean Basham, Strathmore, and a sister, Mrs. Annie Judd, Stockton.
