Homer J. Bailey was born in Monroe County, Hestand, Kentucky on July 23, 1927, the son of Luther Edd (Dec. 16, 1892 - 1975) and Pattie Lena (Brown) Bailey (1894 - 1976). He attended Bradley Springs School and finished high school and college in the military. He relocated to
Indiana in 1948, met and married Marie B. Scott (b 1934) on December 3 1949. She is the daughter of James W. and Margret (Short) Scott. In 1951, at the outbreak of the Korean War, he entered the United States Air Force, serving 13 months in Korea and serving in Sougheast Asia from 1966-67, where he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense with two bronze stars, Armed Forces Good Conduct Medal Presidential Unit Citation and the Accomodation Medal. After spending 20 years in the military, he retired ony to take a position as associate director of building services for Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was owner and operator of Bailey Lawnmower Sales and Service, Indianapolis, and belongs to Tompkinsville Masonic Lodge No. 753, Eastern Star No. 538 Bethlehem, Ky. Valley of Indianapolis Scottish Rite, Order
of Murat Shrine, is a member of Troub Memorial Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, and is now presently residing in Hestand, Kentucky, Monroe County at his retirement home. He had four children.
