Joseph Jefferson Whitney was from Sugartown, LA. and the son of Samuel Joseph Whitney and Rosa Lee Caine Whitney. He was married to Ira Lee Lasyone on January 19, 1937 in Richland, Parish, Louisiana. They had no children.
"Joe" died in Muskogee, Okla. and was survived by his mother and sisters: Oneater Nolen and Bertie May Daniels all of Forest Hill, LA.
He was a tech 5/Sgt., infantry, HQ CO. 753 tank Battalion, U.S. Army. He served overseas in France, Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg, Germany, and Austria. He did his duty as an automotive mechanic service and repairs on military motor vehicles.
Awards include: Army Presidential citation, Europe-Africa-middle east medal with three bronze stars, good conduct medal, American campaign medal, and Victory Medal World War 11.
