She was a Russian nurse on the Eastern Front during the First World War and witnessed several German gas attacks. She wrote about it in her book, They Knew How to Die (1931). Died at Woodside Hall Nursing Home, Eastbourne Road, Hailsham. Buried 17th November 1982. Ceremony performed by Father John Suscenko.
