EAST DORSET - George William Benedict, 40, died in the Mineville (N.Y.) Hospital Thursday. He had lived in East Dorset until seven years ago when he went to Westport, N.Y.
He was born in East Dorset, Dec 14, 1921, the son of Frank and Helen (Viall) Benedict. He went to school at Burr and Burton Seminary in Manchester. He had worked as a logger for many years.
Surviving are his mother and father of East Dorset; a sister, Mrs. Russell Gay of Westport, N.Y., and one niece.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 pm in the Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester Center by the Rev. Edgar Johnson, pastor of the Baptist Church here. Burial will be in the South Village Cemetery in East Dorset in the spring.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 pm.
