Norma Purcell Alston, age 82, of Buda, Texas formerly of Kingsville, Texas passed away on December 23, 2012. She was born on February 10, 1930 in Electra, Texas to Norbert and Naomi Purcell. She attended the public schools of Luling, Texas and graduated Salutatorian of her class. Until her marriage, she was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She volunteered as a Librarian at St. Gertrude's Catholic School in Kingsville while her children attended school there. Also, she was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and an active member of the Kingsville Women's Club. In Buda, she was an active parishioner of Santa Cruz Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and half-brother, Norbert Jr.
The Holy Rosary will be recited by Deacon Ben Garcia at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle. The Mass will be celebrated by Father Charlie Garza at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church of Buda. The Rite of Christian Burial will follow at the Luling City Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be David Alston Sr., Michael Alston, Joshua Wood, Jack Rouse, David Alston Jr., and John Pena.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Boys Town, 200 Flanagan Blvd., P.O. Box 6000 Boys Town, Nebraska, 68010-9988.

Norma was born in Electra, Wichita County, Texas. She was my mother's best friend for over 50 years. Kindest regards to her family - She is missed.|
