FUNERAL RITES THURSDAY FOR JAMES BENSON

Funeral services for James Simpson Benson 87, were held in the Rising Star, Higginbotham Chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 1970, with Minister James Haney officiating. Burial was at the Pioneer Cemetery. Mr. Benson died in the Twilite Acre Nursing Home at 10:30 p.m. July 21. after an illness, almost two years. Born october 24, 1882, he had lived in Eastland County for 65 years, spending the time
in and near Rising Star. He was a member of the Church Of Christ and a retired farmer. His wife preceded him in death.
Pall bearers were Ray Agnew, J.C. Turner, Hulin Erwin, Merritt Proctor, S.C. Tucker and W.A. Richburg.
Survivors are one son J.W. Benson of Monahans; four daughters Mrs. Delia Dalton, Mrs. Irene Williams both of Rising Star; Mrs. Ruby Dugan Rule and Mrs. Bernice Croft of Santa Anna, Ruby Dugan of Rule.
