Civil War Veteran. Private with Company K, 2nd Ill. Cav. July 1, 1861-Aug 11, 1864. Was a member of G.A.R. Greenwood Post 10, Canon City, Colorado.
He was a Physician, specializing in obstetrics. James married Ann Elizabeth (Lydia) Moffitt October 5, 1870.

James Marion Bradbury, M. D. of Canon City, Colo, died of pneumonia in Salida, Colo, October 26. aged seventy-six years.

Dr. James M. Bradbury, of Coaldale, died in the D. & R. G. hospital last Wednesday, twenty-four hours after he had been brought here for treatment for pneumonia. The following information comes from Canon City.

Canon City, Oct. 28 -- The death of Dr. James M. Bradbury at D. & R. G. hospital in Salida yesterday of pneumonia after a brief illness removes one of Fremont county's pioneers, and one of Canon City's most prominent former citizens. Dr. Bradbury came to Canon City from Illinois in 1873 and for a long period of years practiced his profession in this city. Later he removed to Salida where he practiced medicine for a short time before returning to Canon City. About three years ago he removed to Coaldale where he resided until his last illness. He served in the Union army during the Civil war as a member of company K, Second Illinois Volunteer cavalry. He was a member of Greenwood Post No. 10, G. A. R. Dr. Bradbury was prominent in Masonic circles being a member of Mount Moriah lodge No. 15, A. F. & A. M., and also of Canon City chapter No. 14, R. A. M. He was married in Illinois before coming to Colorado his wife dying about eight years ago. No children survive, altho Mrs. Frank L.. Smith of Canon City and Mrs. W. H. Peabody of Glenwood Springs, nieces to Mrs. Bradbury were raised in the family and regarded with the same affection as children. The remains of Dr. Bradbury were brought to Canon City this morning and the funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Smith and will be held under Masonic auspices.

Gravesite Details

There is a Dr. James Bradbury in IOOF cemetery across the street. I spoke with the City Records dept. in Canon City and James is buried at IOOF Cemetery not Greenwood. See FAG #30143326.
