Henry Eugene Akers, 86 of Christiansburg, died Sunday morning, January 15, 1995, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem. The funeral will be 11a.m. Tuesday, January 17, at the graveside in Sunset Cemetery. The family willreceive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.

Henry Eugene Akers, 86, of Christiansburg, passed away Sunday, January 15, 1995,in the V.A. Hospital in Salem. He was an Army veteran of WW II and had recently been a resident at the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Salem. Surviving are his wife, Nellie A. Akers; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lannie and Paul Spradlin, Christiansburg, Ida and Don Rakes, Shawsville; four grandsons and their wives, Harold and Jennie Spradlin, Riner, David and Sandy Spradlin, Christiansburg, Roger Spradlin, Riner, D. J. Rakes, Shawsville; one granddaughter and her husband, Karen and Joe Strickler of Blacksburg; three great-grandsons, Brandon,Jamie and David; three sisters, Virginia Myers and Tressie Cole, both of Christiansburg, Bessie Tilley, Florida; a brother, Emmit Akers of Hampton. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sunset cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Charles Pfaff. Arrangements are being handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
