John H. Adams, 75, of Marietta, went home to be with the Lord at 3:55 a.m. Dec. 22, 2013, at his home.

He was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Marietta, a son of Hayden H. Adams and Violet M. Adams.

John was a Retired Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, Civil Service, Air Force National Guard and retired from the Corps of Engineers. He enjoyed being with his family, fishing, flying and camping. John was married to Pauline (Hunt) Adams who preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2013.

He survived by his children, Jimmy Dale (Sandy) Cooke, Johnny Raye (Nikki) Adams, Larinda Sue (Kevin) Terpack, Carolyn Marie (Kevin) Rittenhouse and Danna Mechelle (Jennings) Shuman; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife; a grandson, Joshua D. Cooke; and great-grandson, Mason L. Rittenhouse, preceded John in death.

The family will greet friends at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, Marietta, on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with entombment following in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites.
