Memorial services for Loreli Bush, 66, of Texico, NM will be at 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 30, 2008, in the Wheeler Mortuary chapel with Linda Garcia officiating, assisted by Debra Welch. Mrs. Bush's ashes will be interred at a later time in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Loreli Hope Bush was born May 14, 1942, in North Adams, MA to Elsie and George Wesley Arthur and died September 24, 2008, in Farwell, TX. Mrs. Bush grew up in the area of Miami, FL where her family lived on a house boat. When she was 18, she moved back to Massachusetts. On January 14, 1964, in Poughkeepsie, NY she was married to Raymond Bush. They moved to New Mexico for several years, and made their home in Tatum and Lovington. In the early 1970's they moved to Vermont, where she worked as a Certified Nursing Aide at a nursing home. In the early 1980's they moved to the Dora community, and about 1985 she and her husband purchased the Dora Caf�. After the death of her husband, she sold the caf� and moved to Clovis. She made her home in Clovis until recently when her health forced her to move to her daughter's home in Texico. Loreli's hobbies included oil painting, crocheting and going to the Senior Citizen's dances. For the past three years she had attended the Llano Estacado Metropolitan Community Church in Clovis with her daughter.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Jim Short of Clovis, NM; a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Susan Bush of Norfolk, VA; a daughter, Diana Herrington and an honorary daughter, Debra Welch both of Texico, NM; 5 grandchildren, Joey, Arthur, Austin and Anthony Bush and Christy Herrington; a brother, Fred Arthur of Leesburg, FL; and two sisters, Sharon Gresham of Franklin, NC and Debra Toole of Sebring, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, two half brothers, George and Wayne Arthur and by her husband, Raymond Bush who died April 16, 1992.
