Mrs. Dorothy Louise (Garrett) Anderson, 84, of Hubbard, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at a Hubbard nursing facility. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard, with the Rev. James Hooper and the Rev. Ricky Woodall officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born in Mertens, Texas, to the late Robert Lee and Sammie (Bumpus) Garrett. She lived most of her life in the Hubbard area and received her teaching certificate from North Texas State Teachers College in 1943. She worked for Family Planning in Hillsboro as a regional coordinator, for First State Bank in Hubbard and also owned and operated Anderson's Grocery in Hubbard with her late husband, Odis Anderson. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church of Hubbard and First Baptist Church of Hubbard. Dorothy loved her family, her church family and was a prayer warrior for many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis Anderson; brothers, Aubrey Garrett and Robert Lee Garrett Jr; a sister, Faye Garrett Quinn; and son-in-law, Bob Smith.
Survivors include children, Odis Dean Anderson and wife, Carolyn, of Rocksprings, Sharon McCann and husband, Doug, of League City, Jim Anderson and wife, Kathy, of Waco, Scott Anderson and wife, Donna, of Hubbard and Nancy Smith, of Hubbard; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
