Coach Aubrey Gene "Snake-Eye" Hicks, age 83, of Addison, passed away on November 1, 2008, in Phenix City. He was born on January 5, 1925, in Tallevast, Florida.

Funeral services were on November 5, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at Addison First Baptist Church. Reverend Samuel Tucker, Reverend Tim Box, Reverend Kenny Sudduth and Reverend John T. White officiated. Burial was at Kemp Baptist Cemetery in Addison.

Honoray pallbearers were all former coaches, athletes, faculty and students of Addison High School and staff and members of the Addison High Athletic Association.

Coach Hicks was a United States Navy Veteran.

Survivors include; his wife, Imogene Martin Hicks; two daughters, Patricia and husband, Richard Turner and Sandy and husband, Creig Bell; a brother, Elroy Hicks; two sisters, Violet Freeman and Alice Pearl and husband, Ray Quintana; five grandchildren, Spencer Bell, Gracie and husband, Scott Flynn, Katie Bell and Brittany Turner; a great-granddaughter, Meri-Kayte Flynn and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Verdie Hicks; his father and mother-in-law, Oliver and Mac Martin and a brother, Harold Hicks.
