Jasper L. "Buck" Deatherage was born May 8, 1912 in Ink, MO to James Thomas and Eva L. (Cox) Deatherage. He passed away April 30, 1997 at Heritage Park Skilled Care in Rolla, MO at the age of 84. He was united in marriage to Ruth Williams Sechrest on December 23, 1939 at Ink, MO and to this union two sons were born. One son, Dewayne, and one step-son, Cecil Sechrest preceded him in death. Buck is also preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Howard. He is survived by one son, Ronnie Deatherage of Port Orchard, WA; one step-daughter, Etta Mae Sechrest Lind of Camanche; two sisters, Artie Swiney of Eminence, MO and Maudeline Hensley of Rolla, MO; one granddaughter, four grandsons, and two great-grandchildren. Buck worked for Ralph Branson, Jim Smith and Harvey Staples as a guide for trail rides well over 25 years. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Saturday May 3, 1997 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence with Rev. Alan Stringer and David Binkley officiating. Interment was in the Summers Cemetery in Ink, MO under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence.
