Juanita Alcorn, age 94, died September 24, 2012 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born August 18, 1918 in Hornersville, Missouri to the late Peter Uestus and Lora Lee (Moody) Branum.

On September 12, 1935 she married Darrell Ellis Alcorn; he preceded her in death on November 11, 2001.

Mrs. Alcorn was very active in the community. She was chosen Sikeston's Woman of the Year in 1972 and received a key to the city and many awards from area businesses. Also, she was Duchess of Paducah, Kentucky and received keys to the city of Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, Louisiana. She served on the Business of Professional Women's Club, Coalesce, Rotary, Kiwanis, Elks and Eagles Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, Beta Sigma Phi and was a volunteer at the Sikeston Depot. She was appointed Area Management Real Estate Broker over six counties in Southeast Missouri for the Department of Veterans Affairs for 18 years. She served as District Deputy Grand Matron of Eastern Star and held the star office of Esther.

She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and the Philanthean Sunday School class. As her children were growing up, she was active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, often conducting bus tours with them to Washington D.C. She was an active realtor for many years.

Loving survivors include a son, William (Wendy) Alcorn of Sikeston; daughter, Nancy Wymer of Sikeston; six grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie Zugschwerdt; three brothers, Harry Branum, Charles Branum and Bill Branum; and six sisters, Rachel Pierce, Alma Schuchart, Helen Walters, Elzora Branum, Betty Jo Yeargain and Imogene Arnold.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
