Mrs. Clara Ethel Edins Austin, Stroud Avenue, died Sunday at a local hospital. Surviving are husband, Gordon Austin, Jr.; daughter, Mrs. Virginia Byers Raburn, Gadsden and son-in-law, William Thomas Raburn; sisters, Irene Parlier, Mary Lou Chavers, Bertha Blake all of Attalla; Flossie O'Neal of Altoona; Dorothy Morgan, Menlo, GA and Gertrude Monittie, Youngstown, Ohio. Mrs. Austin was a native of Marshall County, former resident of Baldwin County and a resident of Etowah County for several years. She was a member of the Church of God. Funeral at Collier-Butler 2 p.m. Tuesday and burial in Pilgrims Rest. The Gadsden Times, Monday, October 22, 1979.

Etowah Co., AL marriage record Nov. 24, 1937 (28-11-37-51-25476) Edward Byars, son of Joe & Esther Ripley Byars, married Clara Eddings, daughter of Jim Eddings. Edward later used the surname Byers and Eddings was misspellled..should have been Edins.)
