DAVENPORT -- Sister Joan Bailey, CHM, a resident of the Humility of Mary Center, Davenport, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Mass will be combined with the Funeral Liturgy for , CHM, who died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Bishop Drumm Care Center, Johnston, Iowa. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the Humility of Mary Center, Davenport, with a Christian wake service at 7:00 p.m. An additional visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Sally Catherine Bailey was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Martina (Swift) Bailey. Sister entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary Sept. 8, 1945, and made her final profession on July 28, 1951. Sister Bailey graduated from St. Paul the Apostle Elementary School, Immaculate Conception Academy and Marycrest College. Sister taught at St. Anthony, Christ the King, and St. Joseph Elementary School, Des Moines; St. Joseph, Fort Madison; St. Joseph, Dunlap; St. Mary, Centerville; All Saints, Stuart; and St. Pius, Rock Island. She was the principal and teacher at St. Joseph School, Neola, and served as the Activity Director at Bishop Drumm Care Center, Johnston. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of Humility. Survivors include her sisters, Mary Panther, Davenport, and Helen (Mrs. Clyde) Lewis, Richmond, Ky.; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Mary Bailey, Davenport; and several nieces and nephews.
