James Roosevelt "Jim" Baldwin, age, 81, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015. Jim served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class during the Korean War. During and after his military service, he began a musical journey where he played and sang local nightclubs, and was featured many times on the Knoxville radio show Mid-Day Merry-Go-Round, and he performed at the Grand Ole Opry. Jim received his Masters of Education from the University of Tennessee and began teaching in the Knoxville School System in 1968. He spent 31 years as a Driver Education teacher and coach for the Knox County and Knoxville City Schools before retiring. He spent his retirement years with family and was an avid golfer.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Baldwin; mother, Dora Overton Baldwin; and a step-mother, Mary Neal Overton Baldwin. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edwina Clapp Baldwin; sister, Judy Constantine; children, Cindy (Rickey) Crawley, Rick Baldwin, Danny (Sedeana) Baldwin, Larry (Robin) Baldwin, Laura Baldwin, John (Mindy) Baldwin, Jim (Katrina) Baldwin; grandchildren, Meghann, Stephanie, Rusty, Cole, Storm, Brittany, Shanda, Antonia, Ryan, Harlie, Lily, James, Kamrin, Trishin; great-grandchildren, Baylee, Forrest, Wyatt; special friend, Con Hunley.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the East TN State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN, with the Rev. Sam Grindstaff and Rev.
