RINGLING โ€” Funeral services for David Carroll Gear, 65, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Ringling, with Bro. Ronnie Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at the Oil Springs Cemetery.


David was born Aug. 10, 1948, north of Healdton, to Marvin C. Gear and Bonnie Marie (Carroll) Gear. He departed this life Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Ardmore.


David lived almost his entire life near where he presently resided. He was born at the present farmhouse on Chatham's Ranch near Oil Springs Cemetery. He really enjoyed being a part of that community all of his life.


He attended school at Graham, graduating from high school in 1966. David worked in the oilfield for many years, and also farmed and ranched on his family farm across from Oil Springs Cemetery. He was a very intelligent person who enjoyed reading, and was a loyal and compassionate friend to many. Throughout his life, he rescued dozens of cats in his community. David was very kind and honest individual who dearly adored all of his family and friends.


Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Charlie and Ada Gear and Bob and Ada Carroll; parents; sister, Peggy James; brothers, Charles (Buzzy) Gear and Marvin Gear Jr.; and a niece, Marty Hurst.


Survivors include sister, Judith and Paul Sexton of Stillwater; nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Jerry Knight of Stillwater, Stephanie Sexton of Fort Worth, Eric Sexton of Fort Worth, Barbara and Scott Power of Graham, Texas, Jackie and Joe Justus of Loving, Texas, Mike James of Bryson, Texas; and numerous cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces.


Pallbearers are Scott Power, Eric Sexton, Mike James, Glen Hurst, Glen Ray Hurst and Kevin James.


Honorary bearers are Hamp Baker and Mike Alexander.


Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
