Marlow - Funeral for CHARLES ALVIN BURD, 72, Marlow, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Elgin, with Kris Lamle, Gary Neighors and Larry Thoma officiating.
Mr. Burd died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at a Marlow nursing center.
Burial will be at Elgin Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Elgin Funeral Home.
He was born March 1, 1935, in Fletcher, to John Henderson Burd and Alice Pearl Owens Burd. He married Jimmie Yvonne Moore on Dec. 12, 1953. He was a supervisor for Dolese and worked there for 40 years. He was a member of Elgin First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Russell Seymour, Denton, Texas, and Cathy and Stacy Landers, Plano, Texas; a granddaughter whom he raised, Rachel and husband, Kyle Ezell; two brothers, Lloyd Dale Burd, Amarillo, Texas, and Jim Burd, Newcastle; five sisters, Rubena Lemons, and Dorothy Weger, both of Elgin, Velma Beattie, Menominee, Mich., Doris Lancaster, Bakersfield, Calif., and Betty Reaves, Roxboro, N.C.; six grandchildren, Scott Seymour, Eric Seymour and wife Elizabeth, Chance Landers, Bryce Lancers, Alyssa Landers, and Ryan Hughes; and a great-grandchild, Rhett Russell Seymour.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack Burd; two sisters, Pearl Hise and Evelyn Mayer; and a son, Dennis Chris Burd.
