DICK BOEVE was born to William and Hattie (Kracht) Boeve on September 5, 1922 on a farm near Hull, Iowa where he was raised and attended country school. Upon the completion of his education, he helped on the family farm. On March 8, 1943, he was united in marriage to Grace Burgers in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they resided in Rock Valley, Iowa where Dick worked as a mechanic for Collenbaugh Motor Company. In 1959, they moved to Luverne, Minnesota. During this time, he was employed at Herman Motor and Davis Motor in Luverne. In 1976, he began working for Fire Apparatus, building fire trucks. In 1980, he became the supervisor for the shop at Clark Taylormade in Worthington, Minnesota. He retired in 1984. In 1992, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota and Dick went to work in the maintainence department at the Storbybrook Apartaments. They moved to Jasper, Minnesota in 1998 until October of 2007, when Dick and Grace moved to the Centennial Apartments in Luverne. Dick became a resident of the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota in January 2011. On March 17, 2011, Dick passed away peacefully with family at his side at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 12 days.
Dick was currently a member of the United Methodist Church in Luverne and was a former member of United Methodist Church in Jasper. Over his life within church, Dick served as Deacon, taught Sunday School, and attended many church prayer meetings. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He especially enjoyed woodworking, and once whittled a jewelry box for his wife.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Grace Boeve of Luverne; two children, George and his wife Janet Boeve of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Donna and her husband Richard Christianson of Austin, Minnesota; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and his wife Hattie Boeve of Visalia, California and Avor and his wife Lucille Boeve of Del Rapids, South Dakota; and one sister, Pearl Shomacker of Luverne, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his son, Wilbur who died when he was three years old; his parents; one brother, Albert; and an infant sister, Jennie.
