Avanell L. (Bish) Johns, 90, of Kittanning, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Armstrong County Health Center. She was born Dec. 19, 1921, in Rural Valley, a daughter of the late Irad Bish and Maggie (Shaffer) Bish.
She was a waitress all her life and loved singing hymns. Survivors include her daughters, Jane Sikora, of Columbiana, Ohio, Sonja Rozman, of North Lima, Ohio, Beverly (Norman) Gray, of Kittanning, Joyce Johns, of North Lima, Ohio, and Mary (Tommy) Freeman, of Dover, Fla.; a son, Larry (Marlene) Johns, of New Castle; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Bill" Johns; and son, Zane "Butch" Johns.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning with Pastor Blaine Blattenberger. Interment in Cochran Mills Cemetery.
