VANDALIA, Mich. — Lois Maxine Corss, 80, of Vandalia died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at her home.

She was born May 6, 1931, in Elkhart, Ind., to Ray and Dorothy (Smeltzer) Newcomer. She married Gilbert Corss on April 14, 1953, in Princeton, Ill.

Lois is survived by her husband, Gilbert Corss of Vandalia; one daughter, Connie (Robert) LaPorte of Cassopolis; and one son, Kenneth Corss of Vandalia; four grandchildren, Robert (Michelle) LaPorte II of Cassopolis, Tammy (Brian) Hartsell of Niles, William H. LaPorte of Cassopolis and Annie (Aaron) Howard of Kalamazoo; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Janet (Richard) Gaddis of Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Gene Corss in 1974, and one sister, Fern Mott.

Family and friends will gather from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 6, 2012, at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Birch Lake Cemetery, Vandalia.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 801 Hazen St., Suite A, Paw Paw, MI 49079-2008.
