DOVER – Donald R. Fickes, of 5720 Old Carlisle Road, who was an assembler foreman for Custom Bilt Machinery of York until his illness, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at his home, at age 43. He was the husband of Jacqueline L. (Rutledge) Fickes.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethany United Methodist Church, Eastmount. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. There will be no viewing. Memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church building fund, Dover RD, 17315. The Scott B. Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fickes was born in Dover Township, the son of Clair W. and Anna L. (Brunk) Fickes, 5740 Old Carlisle Road. He was a lifetime member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Eastmount, had served on its choir and was an assistant Sunday School teacher. He also was a member of the CB'ers Social Club of Pennsylvania, Dover Township Fish and Game Association, and the York Club of Printing House Craftsmen. He had served in the U.S. Air Force approximately four years.

Mr. Fickes also is survived by two sons, Troy W. Fickes and Todd W. Fickes, both at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl F. Brunk, Dover; a brother, Wayne F. Fickes, York New Salem, and a sister, Linda L. Conner, Santa Rosa, Calif.
Mr. Fickes' pastor, the Rev. J. Kenneth Barner, will conduct the service.
