Samuel, formerly of Dixon and a longtime resident of Espaņola, passed away at the Espaņola Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Alejandro Salazar and Virginia Rendon; and brothers: Jose Amadeo and Fidel.

Samuel was survived by his wife Antonia of the home; 4 stepchildren: Minnie Naranjo, Michael Sandoval, and Dennis Sandoval, all of Espaņola; and David Sandoval of California; a sister Eloisa Brown of Los Alamos; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Samuel worked for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad for many years and later as a mail carrier. He was former owner and operator of Alley Bar on Oņate Street in Espaņola. He was a member of the Espaņola Senior Citizens. Upon his retirement in 1979, he enjoyed woodcarving and horseback riding.

Funeral services were held 17 Feb 1989 at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Apodaca. Burial was in the church cemetery in Apodaca. Pallbearers: Felix Salazar, Frank Naranjo, David S. Sandoval, Dennis Sandoval Jr., Henry Gallegos Jr., Michael Sandoval, and James Sandoval.
