Passes Suddenly Away

The citizens of this community were greatly shocked last Friday evening, July 13, when they heard of the sudden death of Frank Jacobson, a highly respected and prosperous farmer of Clear Lake. Death was due to heart failure.

The deceased had been in town on the morning prior to his death and seemed to be in the best of spirits and in apparently good health but shortly after arriving home he commenced feeling somewhat ill. A physician was at once summoned and everything possible was done to save him but to no avail he passing away to the Great Beyond shortly before six o'clock.

Frank Jacobson was born in Carver, Co., Minn., on July 15, 1858, and was therefore almost 59 years old at the time of his death. When about eleven years of age he came to this community with his parents and settled with them on a farm in Clear Lake. There he grew to manhood and about twenty-seven years ago he purchased the farm on which he resided with his family at the time of his death.

On Feb. 11th, 1891, twenty six years ago, he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Holmquist. To this union were born eight children, seven of whom, together with his wife, are left to mourn his sudden departure. They are: Mary, Mrs. O. T. Anderson, of Harris, Minn.; Mable, Mrs. John Johnson, of Clear Lake and Elmer, Amy, Reuben, Wilbert and Wallace at home.

Besides these he leaves four sisters, Mrs. John Melquist, of Severance, Mrs. Alden, of Judson, Mrs. Alfred Johnson, of near Lafayette and Mrs. P. M. Nelson, of North Branch, and three brothers, Chas. and Albert Jacobson of Springvale, and Wm. Jacobson, of Severance and two grand children.

The deceased was a man of good character, honest and upright in all his dealings and was well liked by all who knew him. He had been a faithful worker of the Baptist church in Clear Lake for the past twenty-five years or more and has during all those years officiated in the capacity of treasurer.

The funeral services were held at the house at 2 o'clock last Monday afternoon and interment made in the Baptist church cemetery, Rev. A. B. Nordberg officiating.

Besides the relatives mentioned above the following from abroad were in attendance at the funeral: Mrs. Chas. Malberg, of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Erkel, of LeSueur and Louis Swanson and Chas. Swanson and families of Judson.
