obituary from the Washington Post, 12 June, 2001

February 29, 1932 - June 12, 2001
Kenneth Donald Woolfenden, a longtime resident of Annandale, Virginia, known to his family and friends as Don, died of heart failure on June 12, 2001 in Ormond Beach, Fl, after having suffered several strokes.
Born in Washington, DC on February 29, 1932, Don was featured in an article in the Washington Post as being the first Leap Year baby born in 1932. He is survived by his wife, Christian Woolfenden of Ormond Beach, Fl, as well as his children from his first marriage to Margueritte Boothe: Kenneth D. Woolfenden, Jr. of Sterling, Virginia and Linda Woolfenden Ricca of Sterling, Virginia; children from his marriage to Nell Powell Woolfenden: G. Jeffrey Woolfenden of Orlando, FL and David Wright Woolfenden of West Palm Beach, Fl; sisters Jeanne Guidi of Annandale, VA, Joan Oliver of Annandale, VA and Betty Sue Alberts Guiliette of Alexandria, VA; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Don worked for many years in the metropolitan area in the stucco and plastering business. His artistic ability with his interior work with stucco was well sought after by government and private business as well as residential clients.
He sold insurance for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in the 1960's, moved to Arizona, and then to Florida in the late 1960s to resume his work and start his own stucco and plastering business.
On August 11, 2001 at 11 am, family and friends will gather at the private Woolfenden family cemetery, Belle Haven, on Quantico Marine Corps Base. His grandfather, the late Thomas Woolfenden, Sr., previously owned [much] of the land that the Marine Corps base is located on. Donatons can be made to the Robert Dunphy Ministries, PO Box 89, Sperryville, VA 22740.
