Flight Sergeant Donald Ivan Bowden was a veteran of the Second World War.

408 Squadron's Avro Lancaster (#LL719) aircraft, with an aircrew of seven, took off from RAF Linton-on-Ouse for a night air operation over Leipzig, Germany. LL719 failed to return to base, having crashed-probably in the target area-in Germany, taking the lives of the entire crew.

Flight Sergeant Donald Ivan Bowden is commemorated on Page 255 of Canada's Second World War Book of Remembrance.
He is also remembered with love and honour on a family grave monument in the Fairmount Cemetery in Sutton, Quebec.
