Services for J.T. Lively were held in the Presbyterian Church. Born in Collin County, near Plano, he moved to Denton County with his parents in 1883. He worked with his father as a farmer and cattle raiser. Later, his father moved to Denton, Texas for the purpose of educating his children. J.T. Lively worked for his father as a bookkeeper for the family flour mill. In 1895, J.T. Lively married Miss Minnie Sledge in Denton, Texas. To this union, three children were born. His wife preceded him in death during the birth of one of their children who also died. Mr. Lively and his family moved to Baylor County in 1900 and settled on a farm five miles east of Seymour. On his farm, the LIvely school house was named in his honor. Later, Mr. LIvely moved to Seymour and entered the mercantile business under the firm name of LIvely, Doss & Russey. In 1905, his brother-in-law, R.R. Kellum purchased the interests of Doss and Russey, and the firm became known as Lively & Kellum. In 1907, Mr. Lively married Miss Lou Lewis in Seymour, Texas. One child was born into this union. In his early life, he united with the Presbyterian Church. Survived by his wife; four children.
