Georgetown - Cecil Rex Bartschi, 87, passed away Monday August 6, 2007, in Montpelier, Idaho.

He was born July 3, 1920 at Georgetown, Idaho, the first child of Frank and Gwendolyn Bacon Bartschi. He grew up and lived his whole life in Georgetown. All his school years were spent in Georgetown, where he graduated from Georgetown High School.

Rex was a farmer and rancher who raised sheep and cattle. He had a small band of sheep until just a couple of years ago.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held many positions in his ward and stake, from teacher to high councilman. In his position on the high council he worked with the Young Women's organization, a job that he enjoyed very much..

He worked as custodian in the Georgetown Elementary School for 15 years after retiring from farming. He loved all the little kids who attended the school and thought of them as an extension of his own family.

Rex married the love of his life, Anna May Young, on May 14, 1941, in the Logan, Utah Temple. Over the next 21 years they were blessed with the birth of seven sons.

Rex is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna May; and all seven of his sons, Marlin Rex (Sandi) of California, Gerald Ray (Linda) of West Jordan, Utah, Karl Van (Kristi), and Leslie D. (Kristie), both of Montpelier, Kelly Lynn (Barb), and Randell C. both of Georgetown, and Larry Frank (Nancy) of Bern, Idaho; one sister, Dorthy (Glen) Hartley of Mesquite, Nevada; one brother, Glenn (LaRae) Bartschi of Montpelier, 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grand children, and two great-great-grandchildren.
