Casualty of WWII,John was killed on air operations over Stavanger, Norway, but his aircraft made it back to England.He was killed at Stavanger so his body must have remained in the aircraft and brought back to England.He served with 99 Sqdn.Royal Air Force, Service No:355953.He was 35.He was a son of William Edgar and Kate Jane Brent, husband of Zena Brent; nephew of Mrs. C. M. Golding, of Plumstead.
His brother also fell. He was Edgar Frederick Goldie Brent,Radio Officer,British Overseas Airways Corporation. He was lost in the Flying Boat "Clare" on September 14th 1942, leaving a widow,
Aletta L. M. Brent, of Beckenham, Kent.He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Malta Memorial,Panel 5, Column 1.

Airborne from Newmarket for Stavanger. The aircraft crashed in the Wash, the cause was not established.F/Sgt J.W.L.G.Brent , F/O H.G.Muller , Sgt P.C.Cunningham AC1 M.J.O'Sullivan , AC1 D.Lilley , P/O G.A.H.Poole all died in this incident.
